Die Organisatoren der Game Awards haben am Montag während eines Livestreams die Nominierungen für das Game of the Year 2025 vorgestellt, wobei neben einigen erwarteten Titeln vor allem unabhängige Produktionen besonders stark vertreten sind, berichtet 4thebike.de. Zu den Nominierten gehören unter anderem Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hades 2 und Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Die drei Indie-Titel treten gemeinsam mit Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza und Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 um die wichtigste Auszeichnung des Jahres an. Insgesamt bestätigte die Auswahl die Prognosen vieler Branchenbeobachter, da Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 mit zwölf Nominierungen in zehn Kategorien die meisten Erwähnungen erhalten hat. Death Stranding 2 und Ghost of Yōtei wurden jeweils in sieben Kategorien berücksichtigt.
Mit der Veröffentlichung der vollständigen Nominiertenliste beginnt zugleich die nächste Abstimmungsrunde. Die Jury der Game Awards wählt Kandidaten in zahlreichen Kategorien wie Best RPG, Best Narrative oder Best Art Direction. Gleichzeitig können Fans ihre Stimme für das Game of the Year noch bis zum 10. Dezember abgeben.
Die Verleihung der Game Awards 2025 wird am Donnerstag, dem 11. Dezember, um 19:30 Uhr EST bzw. 16:30 Uhr PST live übertragen.
